A Reuters report on Turkey’s governing AK Party’s efforts to write a new constitution in cooperation with the parliamentary opposition parties said this:
“This isn’t the first time AKP has tried to renew the constitution. A cross-party commission collapsed in 2011, but not before agreeing on 60 articles.”
This is false.
A cross-party commission began to work on a new constitution in 2011. The negotiations collapsed in 2013 and the commission dissolved in December of the same year.
